Our Vision
The UKRO was formed in 2002 to address the growing diversity of rescues that emergency services in the UK were requested to undertake and which now form a statutory duty.
Over the next three years, the UKRO has the following primary objectives.
We will:
-
participate in, and contribute to the management of the world extrication/rescue challenge.
-
develop the challenge to meet the new demands of the Fire & Rescue Service and include trauma, line and urban search and rescue.
-
continue to manage an extrication/rescue challenge each year in the UK
-
identify and share good practice in road death reduction strategies.
-
organise a road safety conference each year in conjunction with the Challenge event.
-
develop and support relevant education programmes for stakeholder groups.
-
continue to build upon existing partnerships and develop new ones, both nationally and internationally.
-
develop in partnership an international training manual
-
develop training materials for the UK Fire & Rescue Service
-
set up ten organisations, similar to the UKRO, throughout Europe over the next five years
